Topkapı Palace

Topkapı Palace was the main residence of the sultan and his court. It was initially the seat of government as well as the imperial residence. Even though access was stricly regulated, inhibitants of the palace rarely had to venture out since the palace functioned almost as an autonomous entitity, a city within a city.

Hippodrome and Obelisks

The square in front of the Blue Mosque covers the site of the ancient Hippodrome one of the most famous areas in Byzantine.

Blue Mosque

The Blue Mosque is one of the most prominent landmarks of İstanbul. It is very impressive with its beautiful domes and semidomes, nice courtryyards and six silender minarets.

Fener/Balat: Orthodox & Jewish Heritage

The estuary, Haliç in Turkish, was called as the Golden Horn by the Byzantines. The Golden Horn was closely associated with the Tulip Era, the most controversial period of Ottoman history. At present two districts of İstanbul, Balat and Fener, are closely associated with the Golden Horn granted privileges to the Christian and Jewish communities living in the city to perfdorm their rituals free of intervention.

Süleymaniye Mosque

The Süleymaniye crowns one of İstanbul's seven hills and dominates the Golden Horn, providing a landrmark for the entire city. Though it's not the largest of the Ottoman Mosques, it is certainly one of the grandest and most beautiful.
